Llanafan Fawr

The village of Llanafan Fawr is home to the Red Lion Inn, St Afan's Church and not really a lot else!! which makes it the ideal place to relax, with the odd passing car Llanafan is a very peaceful place but still in easy reach from Builth Wells, Llandrindod and Rhayader. Llanafan Fawr is also the start point of many local walks and therefore has many footpaths leading in all directions, Llanafan is in the foothills of the Cambrian mountains, so if you head off to the west you will see beautiful unspoilt scenery and the odd farm. St Afan is a purely Welsh saint and is unknown in the English church, some say he was the great grandson of Cynedda Wledig, King of Britain. Others believe he was the first cousin of St David the patron saint of Wales. This could possibly date St Afan back to 330 AD.
